Filling Deep Concrete Joints & Cracks

Filling Deep Concrete Joints & Cracks

For concrete joints and cracks deeper than 1/2" we recommend filling that gap with stone dust or sand first -- leaving 1/2"exposed for the product. You can also use backer rod and we recommend a heat resistant backer rod. Heat resistant backer rods are typically made of a closed cell foam. The backer rod should be able to handle up to 400 degrees. Product Recommendations: Hot Rod XL backer rod is a proven product that works well with Crack Stix. Crack Stix should be used on horizontal surfaces only and is great for parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, patios, pool deck joints (yes, Crack Stix is chlorine resistant). Remember, Crack Stix comes in either Gray or Black and either can be used on blacktop or concrete. So if you have a faded blacktop lot, try the gray version so you don't see the contrast!
